You may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation, but it only lasts for the duration of your laser treatment. For sclerotherapy, most patients do not experience any pain beside a slight pinch from the injection.

After both therapies, patients generally return to daily activities immediately. You may initially experience some irritation, swelling, or bruising in the treatment areas after both sclerotherapy and laser vein removal treatments. Compression stockings may help to reduce pain and help the healing process.

Reducing the appearance of spider veins with laser treatment can take a few sessions depending on the area that is covered, and the number of vessels being treated. For sclerotherapy, the number of sessions will depend on the number of veins being treated.

In most cases, treatment from both sclerotherapy and laser spider vein removal are permanent. However, it’s still possible for new spider veins to develop at any time, so it may be a good idea to keep wearing compression stockings and make sure you’re staying active!
