What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are some of the most frequently performed treatments designed to improve skin quality and to combat skin aging. As one of the earliest forms of skin rejuvenation treatment, chemical peels have maintained their popularity due to the variety of conditions they address, including melasma, acne, scars, uneven skin tone, dullness, texture, and more. This treatment can range from minimally invasive to aggressive depending on your needs.

Chemical peels work by removing the top layers of the skin using a customized solution. This can include acids, and other brightening, lightening, and anti-oxidant ingredients. Our peels remove the dead cells to reveal the healthy skin beneath and promotes the regeneration of new skin cells and decrease the pigment in overactive skin cells. At Kingsway, we offer salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and TCA acids, as well as customized acids formulated by our own dermatologists. Customized peels that we formulate include retinoic acid, kojic acid, azelaic acid, and hydroquinone. These will be custom blended for the unique requirements of each patient.

Is a Chemical Peel Right for Me?

If we determine that a chemical peel would be the best treatment to address your aesthetic concerns, we will create a treatment plan just for you. The specifics of the treatment, including the depth of the peel and the type of acid used, will be customized to fit your needs.

Depending on the unique needs of our patients, we can combine peels with microneedling for better effectiveness.

Mild peels can have little to no downtime, while deeper peels can cause your skin to flake for about a week. Many patients seen an improvement after just one session, although it may take several treatments to see the results you desire.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment in which dead skin cells and impurities are removed to give the face a healthy glow. It works in much the same way as a chemical peel, but instead of acid, a microdermabrasion tool uses tiny crystals to gently sand away the outer layers of skin, revealing new, healthy skin beneath.

Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colors, and can treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, and more. When you come to Kingsway for your consultation, we’ll determine if microdermabrasion would be an effective treatment for your unique skin care needs.

Dermal Infusion

Dermal infusion is based on the same idea as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, which is that deep exfoliation can remove dead skin cells and allow new cells to grow. It is a gentle solution for those with sensitive skin. We use SilkPeel dermal infusion, a non-invasive wet exfoliation method that doesn't involve crystal or chemical exfoliants.

Treatment takes less than an hour and leaves skin feeling smooth and silky, while increasing skin hydration and clarity. We offer a variety of serums for our SilkPeel dermal infusions, including:

  • Lumixyl Solution for hyperpigmentation uses amino acids and peptide technology to minimize discolouration and even out tone
  • Clarifying Formula for acne, combines salicylic acid and aloe to promote a clear complexion and treat cystic and pustule acne
  • Hydration Solution for dry skin, a nutrient-rich moisturizing formula the quenches the thirstiest skin and reduces the appearing of fine lines and wrinkles, improving the overall texture of the skin
  • Vitamin C Solution for detoxification, a potent antioxidant formula to brighten, exfoliate, and protect skin against photodamage

At your consultation, our expert dermatologists will determine which serum would be the best choice to help you reach your skin care goals.
